As a freelance photographer working at Epworth Healthcare’s Hospital, my assignment was to document a day in the operating theatre with the surgical team.
The day started early. I arrived at the hospital, checked in, and suited up in sterile theatre scrubs. The theatre was bright and busy, with surgeons, nurses, and anaesthetists preparing for the first procedure. My task was to capture the process without disrupting their work.
I took photos of the surgeons as they operated, focusing on their teamwork and precision. Between surgeries, I photographed the equipment and the brief moments of rest the staff had. The surgeons discussed cases and techniques, providing a glimpse into their professional camaraderie.
By the end of the day, I had a comprehensive set of images showing the intensity and dedication of the surgical team. It was a straightforward but insightful assignment, highlighting the important work done in the operating theatre.
